St Patrick's Day Reception 2024
On 13th March 2024 the Champ St Patrick’s Day reception took place in the House of Commons with strong attendance from British, Irish and Northern Irish parliamentarians as well as figures from the worlds of business and the arts. We were delighted to be joined by the now Taoiseach of Ireland, Simon Harris TD who spoke on importance of a close and friendly relationship between Britain and Ireland.
The now Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Hilary Benn MP also spoke of his own personal family links to Ireland from Fermanagh, Cork, Mayo and Kilkenny and how our two countries share so much history, culture, ideas, politics and friendship. Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ireland, Karin Smyth MP and representing Champ, Conor McGinn MP both spoke eloquently about their own experiences and the important contribution that Champ was making to promoting mutual respect and bringing business and communities together to discuss the issues of the day and celebrate our shared heritage.
Champ could not carry on its work without the generous support of its sponsors including the Irish Post, Tourism Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast, Regen and the Betting and Gaming Council.
Also attending were former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Karen Bradley MP along with Members of Parliament from every political party represented at Westminster and in the Oireachtas.
